THE MOON-LIGHT DANCE

I wait for the night, to see the beautiful silver light, exposed by the moon lady. Under the moon-light, I am standing by your side, holding those big strong hands, tightly. This is the time , which I’ve been waiting for many years, to ask me to dance. The moon-light makes me feel crazy and your presence by my side, makes me feel shy. Maybe because of your love, which creates a beautiful evening.  I want to keep on dancing and hold your hands, until we grew old . The world needs us to grow old together but somehow, there is a big distance, which is being created. Please my love, try to avoid this distance and be with me, until I shut my eyes till the end of life.

CHILDREN OF THE NEW DECADE

When I was 10, I had a best friend called Reemi. She was bubbly, charming, adorable and enthusiastic. We used to play and used to stay together, quite often. Each time, I used to spend with her , was memorable. Both her parents used to take us, to a play ground, next to my home. Suddenly there was a bad news, which took place. Since then the entire situation changed. The parents got divorced and the marriage fell apart. My friend then became, sad, lonely and an introvert. The beautiful smile which I used to see on her face went away.
Now, when I was 18, there was a little boy, named Rahul. The boy was 10 years and resided, next to my home. Most of the time, he seemed to be anxious. Both his parents, was busy. The little boy was left under the supervisation of the ayah. Almost every day I used to see him, walking with the ayah, to his school and for an evening walk. But when this child, was left alone with his parents, at night. He felt lonely and couldn’t communicate.  No matter, how he tried his best to capture their attention, he failed miserably. Slowly, he then engaged himself in delinquent activities.
When I turned 21, one day I saw a little girl , with her maid , in the park. They were enjoying a great time together. The maid frantically showed her a butterfly. She told in Bengali “dekho dekho, ekta projapoti”, but there was no response. The child was blank and couldn’t associate, with the Bengali term.  I was actually shocked to see that, because she was not being able to identify, her mother-tongue.
So, when someone reads the above stories, it can be analyzed that these children are suffering problems, arising from broken homes, loneliness, and neglect.

This is a result , due to the emergence of nuclear family Then they become delinquents, arrogant, self-centered and suffer from learning disabilities and identity crisis.  Therefore, those who are young and will be parents , at sometime and those who are already parents , should create a balance between a professional and personal life.. The child’s personality development starts from the family, where he/she is being nurtured, taught values and the meaning of love and belongingness.  Today, our children are the investment of future, for the development of mature  citizens , they require their family’s support .

spring's benevolence..

I went out with my relative to buy something  and on my way i could feel the fresh air , blowing around me. It is the spring season, one of my favorite . It is neither hot nor cold and i reckon that the rainy season won't disturb by knocking the door of this beautiful mixed weather . Another beautiful thing about this weather , is the festival of holi in India.

This is a festival , in which people play with different colors . It is the time during which there are no discrimination between caste, religion, etc. Yes, there is an  unity in this festival, which brings happiness all around India.

I am now sitting and writing my blog in my room , where a window is open and  i can feel the air passing through it . It is an amazing feeling , right now. At times , i go up to my rooftop with my i-pod , whenever i want to stay alone . That is the best time, during which i  can drown  myself totally into the music  and then imagine myself ,  going somewhere far far away . Yes , an utopian feeling because that is beyond  reality. But ,  i love that feeling of mine, anyway !

LEONARD COHEN- THE AMERICAN SINGER-SONG WRITER

While listening to Leonard Cohen, it gives a chill all over our mind and the body. His songs comprises of less instrumental music and more of the words. The only instrumental music one can hear is the “VIOLIN”. Every song of his is like a story. Just like an author who narrates his entire story through his writings, likewise Cohen   narrates the scene through his songs. This differentiates him from other singers. Listening to his songs it feels like he himself is narrating his life.
Leonard Cohen is a songwriter- singer, a poet, novelist and a musician. He was born on 21 September, 1934. His works explores the significant areas like religion, love, sexuality, and personal relationships. He dealt with American “ROCK AND ROLL”, “HALL OF FAME”. He is also a companion of the order of Canada. One important feature which can be studied from his work is that his entire career deals with poems, stories about real life, religion and love life. It sounds all real. Hence, this enriches his music work. There was one failure in his career of becoming an efficient writer because of financial crisis. Hence, he had to travel to United States to pursue his career as a folk music singer- songwriter. One of his famous songs is “SUZZANE” which became a hit of Judy Collins who is also an American songwriter and a singer. His couple of famous albums was “SONGS FROM A ROOM” and “SONGS OF LOVE AND HATE”, produced in Nashville by the producer called Bob Johnston who had helped Cohen to achieve the spare sound that he’d been after in his first album.

ABOUT THE SONG – SUZZANE.

This song is associated with Cohen’s life. At first the song was a poem in 1966 which was been translated into a song by Judy Collins and further it was being recorded by Leonard Cohen for his album called “SONGS OF LEONARD COHEN”.   In this song, Cohen had a “PLATONIC RELATIONSHIP” with Suzanne Verdal who   was the girlfriend of a Quebec sculptor, named Armand Vailancourt.    The lyrics of the song describes about rituals that they used to enjoy whenever they were together. Suzanne used to call Cohen at her apartment by the harbor at Montreal.

THE SETTING AND THE DESCRIPTION OF THE SONG

The entire song has been set up in the harbor in Montreal near Suzanne’s apartment. She used to serve tea and oranges to Cohen, which was brought from China.  They used to walk around Old Montreal past the church of “NOTRE-DAME-de-BON- SECOURS, where sailors were blessed before heading out to the sea.

THE LYRICS OF THE SONG:-

Suzanne takes you down to her place near the river
You can hear the boats go by
You can spend the night beside her
And you know that she's half crazy
But that's why you want to be there
And she feeds you tea and oranges
That come all the way from China
And just when you mean to tell her
That you have no love to give her
Then she gets you on her wavelength
And she lets the river answer
That you've always been her lover
And you want to travel with her
And you want to travel blind
And you know that she will trust you
For you've touched her perfect body with your mind.
Therefore, each of his song revolves around his real life. Hats off to this person, who beautifully shares his personal life through each of his work of songs.   I love all of his songs, specially “FAMOUS BLUE RAINCOAT” and “HALLELUJAH”.

MY SCHEHERAZADE

You look at her with lots of love and hope of hearing what she’ll tell about your dark future. Her dark brown button eyes, pink bubblegum lips. Her long silk dark coffee hair falling all past her shoulder and the sea blue gown falling till her sharp knees. All of these beautiful features make her a true gypsy queen. I look at her and keep wondering how can a lady like her exist in this mean world? Through the eyes you could explore the whole world. These are the aspects which fall under the superficial world.
With the concern of reality, you should not always trust the Scheherazade. There is something within her which erupts like the fire of volcano. That can be either her dark witch like behavior or the anger and anxiety which is trapped within her body. Her voice and words are sweet, flawless, sugar coated and bloodless in nature. In this case, self control as an aspect of a man’s life is very important. Control yourself from getting swayed by her lovely words as it can be as poisonous as a snake’s venom.  She has the tendency to trap you in her web swiftly at one go. She can also be a good lady only if you respect her and not consider her to be a woman of easy virtue.
Despite, evil treacherous behavior of my lady, I keep looking at her and dream of her and I  and engross myself completely within her superficial world. I know I am taking a huge risk but I am a man who works purely on instincts. This is all because I love and will keep on loving her because she is "MY SCHEHERAZADE", the lady with whom I am in love.

COLORS AND THEIR SIGNIFICANCE IN JOANNE HARRIS

Well each color has its significant role in determining one’s behavior and mood. Black signifies   aggressive behavior, followed by blue which is calm and serene and hence it is always benevolent in nature.  Yellow signifies the brightness and the sunny days and so on.  Yellow reminds me of    the yellow submarine by the Beatles.
Recently, I am reading a book named “Blueeyedboy a.ka. B.B”. This is a book which has been written by, Joanne Harris. She is also known as the bestselling author of the book, Chocolat. This book is an awe striking book and has been incorporated with three colors, Black, Brown and Blue. Each color has its own skills, having an impact on three distinctive characters.  To look at it, we shall discuss about the story matter descriptively. “Once there was a widow with three sons, Black, Brown and Blue. Black was the eldest, moody and aggressive. Brown was the middle child, timid and dull. But Blue was his mother’s favorite and a murderer”. Now, this is an irony. We often consider “blue” as calm and serene but it is also evil just like black.  I found it amusing, when I found out that the third child is a murderer and considers blue to be his best mode of killing. Often we understand that a murderer prefers red but here it is just the opposite.
The book is exclusive and really good. After reading this book, one can draw a conclusion that one should not always trust a thing or a living being which looks so good from outside but is deceitful in nature. It is a must for a person to think and then make a decision. Like we know, in this story, the blueeyedboy looked just like an innocent little boy who was being pampered by everyone and turning to be the best mama’s boy but he is a MUR-DE-RER
!

Is Kolkata safe for a woman ?

Kolkata was hitherto a safe city for women. But as time changes things also change along with it.
Recently, Kolkata has become entirely unsafe and does not assure women’s safety. This has been proved through various kinds of events taking place around us in our society. Nonstop harassments, lewd comments, street molestations are taking place and thereby the freedom of women’s movement along with some basic rights are diminishing day by day.
The Government is playing a vital role in order to check the status and to implement important steps to control this continuous harassment taking place in the city. One important decision that has been taken by the government and the police force in Kolkata is that, “women’s safety should be assured during the puja festival. Now, why especially during the puja festival? This is because both north and south Kolkata gets filled with various kinds of people who do pandal hopping, etc.  During that point of time, there can be a high chance of any kind of offences   against women.  Hence a good decision has been taken by the government that each police kiosk should include police and if any kind of illegal act takes place, the woman immediately can go and file a case against the offender.
We have all read about the trauma the French woman went through in Kolkata. This incident took place on July 4, 2013.  Here, not only the woman was harassed by the molesters but the man who was accompanying her was equally harassed by the molesters.
Another incident which is common now in today’s time in Kolkata is about the “biker gangs” on streets. A new fashion has taken place called “bike racing” where the group of biker’s race right from the evening to late night (6 to 12 or beyond) and harass women.  But how? -  While racing, some of the gangs pass lewd comments and whistle on seeing the girls while they cross the road. Bikers not only harass the women but also violate the traffic signals.  To prevent this act, the government came up with the decision of patrolling in certain places so that they can stop the unnecessary nuisance act.  A woman, who was travelling from the Forum mall after watching a movie, at midnight with her family, had faced a similar incident on her way to house during which some of the biker gangs chased the car and tried to violate her privacy. This victim later on came up with some questions related to freedom of women’s movement on the road. All these questions were asked to the police of Kolkata, which was being published in the newspaper.
Also, various other sexual harassments   take place in Kolkata. One of the main incidents based on sexual harassment was the park street rape case. The victim was raped by a group of men in the moving car. The woman then went up to the media and discussed about certain facts. It has been noticed that, unlike this woman, many women are not strong enough to own up and share their experiences with the world. You need lots of guts to do that and most of the women never come out with their experiences in the media.

Hence it’s a shame that in this time and age, when we emphasis more towards the gender equality, despite that still women faces these kinds of unnecessary harassment by some men. “Why this narrowness towards women” in society is still a complicated question to which there seem to be no answer. Therefore for all the above mentioned situations all women need a support given by the community as a whole.
