As I
read through my mother’s status about my grandmother’s beauty and her elegant behavior.
I immediately look at my mother and wonder she is no less, exquisite and appealing.
How well she dresses and her deeds really influence me. I hope one day or
someday, I can be that dainty young woman, just like my mother

A TOUGH CALL
I recently joined a workshop, in my college- a public
speaking course. I was told by my political science teacher, to join the course,
which would help me in the long run. Initially, I was extremely happy and curious.
But then the wind blew in a different direction. Indeed, it is a very good
workshop, organized by experienced people. The only thing, which disappoints me,
is the schedule. HA HA! I am a lazy girl. As per the time table of my
college, “Thursdays and Sundays “, are the non working days. Despite this, I have
to attend this course on every Thursdays. This is the month of April, really
hot in Calcutta. Under this scorching heat, I have to travel. Tomorrow (10th
of April, 2014), I have to make a prepared speech on “Eve Teasing “. From the morning
till now, I had to mug up the entire speech, just for inspiring them. On the other hand, it’s very interesting to
note that, I am overcoming my stage fright and now I can face the audience with
confidence. The motive is not to win a match, but to learn and experience. So
that I can understand my mistakes and know from it.
A tough call is
coming at the end of the session, which is the main showcase on 26th
of April. . A show, where all the parents,
relatives and friends of each student’s, will come to see our performance. For the first time, in my life, I am getting
an opportunity to take a part in a competition. I am excited as well as tense
to face this tough call. I hope, with full confidence, I can give a speech,
which would inspire each and every person in the audience. Specially my family
and relatives.
Finally I got what I wanted to achieve. The show case went
very well and at the end, I got a trophy, for outstanding improvement in public
speaking. My parents and relatives were amazed
and since then, I believe that, anything which you want to achieve is easy to
get, only if you work hard.

BLUES
Remember the day, when you took me to a place, away from the cramped city. I remember of sitting by your side, under the moon-light, right beside the ultra marine sea . The softly lit blue lamps and the dinner under the blue tent, stirred up my mood. Also the blues, which created a jazzy background for the evening. Since then i have fallen in love with the color, blue. This is because it reminds me of you and the evening, we spent together. I still crave for the serene blue ambience of that day, created by you and your love.

THE MOON-LIGHT DANCE
I wait for the night, to see the beautiful silver light,
exposed by the moon lady. Under the moon-light, I am standing by your side,
holding those big strong hands, tightly. This is the time , which I’ve been
waiting for many years, to ask me to dance. The moon-light makes me feel crazy
and your presence by my side, makes me feel shy. Maybe because of your love,
which creates a beautiful evening. I
want to keep on dancing and hold your hands, until we grew old . The world
needs us to grow old together but somehow, there is a big distance, which is
being created. Please my love, try to avoid this distance and be with me, until
I shut my eyes till the end of life.

CHILDREN OF THE NEW DECADE
When I was 10, I had a best friend called Reemi. She was
bubbly, charming, adorable and enthusiastic. We used to play and used to stay
together, quite often. Each time, I used to spend with her , was memorable.
Both her parents used to take us, to a play ground, next to my home. Suddenly
there was a bad news, which took place. Since then the entire situation
changed. The parents got divorced and the marriage fell apart. My friend then
became, sad, lonely and an introvert. The beautiful smile which I used to see
on her face went away.
Now, when I was 18, there was a little boy, named Rahul. The
boy was 10 years and resided, next to my home. Most of the time, he seemed to
be anxious. Both his parents, was busy. The little boy was left under the
supervisation of the ayah. Almost every day I used to see him, walking with the
ayah, to his school and for an evening walk. But when this child, was left
alone with his parents, at night. He felt lonely and couldn’t communicate. No matter, how he tried his best to capture
their attention, he failed miserably. Slowly, he then engaged himself in
delinquent activities.
When I turned 21, one day I saw a little girl , with her
maid , in the park. They were enjoying a great time together. The maid
frantically showed her a butterfly. She told in Bengali “dekho dekho, ekta
projapoti”, but there was no response. The child was blank and couldn’t
associate, with the Bengali term. I was
actually shocked to see that, because she was not being able to identify, her
mother-tongue.
So, when someone reads the above stories, it can be analyzed
that these children are suffering problems, arising from broken homes,
loneliness, and neglect.
This is a result , due to the emergence of nuclear family Then
they become delinquents, arrogant, self-centered and suffer from learning
disabilities and identity crisis.
Therefore, those who are young and will be parents , at sometime and
those who are already parents , should create a balance between a professional
and personal life.. The child’s personality development starts from the family,
where he/she is being nurtured, taught values and the meaning of love and
belongingness. Today, our children are
the investment of future, for the development of mature citizens , they require their family’s support
.
.
spring's benevolence..
I went out with my relative to buy something and on my way i could feel the fresh air , blowing around me. It is the spring season, one of my favorite . It is neither hot nor cold and i reckon that the rainy season won't disturb by knocking the door of this beautiful mixed weather . Another beautiful thing about this weather , is the festival of holi in India.
This is a festival , in which people play with different colors . It is the time during which there are no discrimination between caste, religion, etc. Yes, there is an unity in this festival, which brings happiness all around India.
I am now sitting and writing my blog in my room , where a window is open and i can feel the air passing through it . It is an amazing feeling , right now. At times , i go up to my rooftop with my i-pod , whenever i want to stay alone . That is the best time, during which i can drown myself totally into the music and then imagine myself , going somewhere far far away . Yes , an utopian feeling because that is beyond reality. But , i love that feeling of mine, anyway !

LEONARD COHEN- THE AMERICAN SINGER-SONG WRITER
While listening to Leonard Cohen, it gives a chill all over
our mind and the body. His songs comprises of less instrumental music and more
of the words. The only instrumental music one can hear is the “VIOLIN”. Every
song of his is like a story. Just like an author who narrates his entire story
through his writings, likewise Cohen narrates the scene through his songs. This
differentiates him from other singers. Listening to his songs it feels like he himself
is narrating his life.
Leonard Cohen is a songwriter- singer, a poet, novelist and
a musician. He was born on 21 September, 1934. His works explores the
significant areas like religion, love, sexuality, and personal relationships.
He dealt with American “ROCK AND ROLL”, “HALL OF FAME”. He is also a companion
of the order of Canada. One important feature which can be studied from his
work is that his entire career deals with poems, stories about real life,
religion and love life. It sounds all real. Hence, this enriches his music
work. There was one failure in his career of becoming an efficient writer because
of financial crisis. Hence, he had to travel to United States to pursue his
career as a folk music singer- songwriter. One of his famous songs is “SUZZANE”
which became a hit of Judy Collins who is also an American songwriter and a
singer. His couple of famous albums was “SONGS FROM A ROOM” and “SONGS OF LOVE
AND HATE”, produced in Nashville by the producer called Bob Johnston who had
helped Cohen to achieve the spare sound that he’d been after in his first album.
ABOUT THE SONG – SUZZANE.
This song is associated with Cohen’s life. At first the song
was a poem in 1966 which was been translated into a song by Judy Collins and
further it was being recorded by Leonard Cohen for his album called “SONGS OF
LEONARD COHEN”. In this song, Cohen had
a “PLATONIC RELATIONSHIP” with Suzanne Verdal who was
the girlfriend of a Quebec sculptor, named Armand Vailancourt. The lyrics of the song describes about
rituals that they used to enjoy whenever they were together. Suzanne used to
call Cohen at her apartment by the harbor at Montreal.
THE SETTING AND THE DESCRIPTION OF THE SONG
The entire song has been set up in the harbor in Montreal
near Suzanne’s apartment. She used to serve tea and oranges to Cohen, which was
brought from China. They used to walk
around Old Montreal past the church of “NOTRE-DAME-de-BON- SECOURS, where
sailors were blessed before heading out to the sea.
THE LYRICS OF THE SONG:-
Suzanne takes you down to her place near the
river
You can hear the boats go by
You can spend the night beside her
And you know that she's half crazy
But that's why you want to be there
And she feeds you tea and oranges
That come all the way from China
And just when you mean to tell her
That you have no love to give her
Then she gets you on her wavelength
And she lets the river answer
That you've always been her lover
And you want to travel with her
And you want to travel blind
And you know that she will trust you
For you've touched her perfect body with your mind.
You can hear the boats go by
You can spend the night beside her
And you know that she's half crazy
But that's why you want to be there
And she feeds you tea and oranges
That come all the way from China
And just when you mean to tell her
That you have no love to give her
Then she gets you on her wavelength
And she lets the river answer
That you've always been her lover
And you want to travel with her
And you want to travel blind
And you know that she will trust you
For you've touched her perfect body with your mind.
Therefore, each of his song revolves around his real life.
Hats off to this person, who beautifully shares his personal life through each
of his work of songs. I love all of his
songs, specially “FAMOUS BLUE RAINCOAT” and “HALLELUJAH”.
